Holidays 2022: Survey reveals most pet owners give their dogs gifts
It’s beginning to look a lot like…the holiday season! Gift-giving season is coming at us head-on, and we couldn’t be more excited. Watching people’s reactions when they open a gift is awesome. Have you ever given your dog (or dogs) a Christmas present? Now those reactions are simply priceless!
Recently a study was done by Chewy, the dog food, toys, medicine, etc delivery service that is currently busy sweeping the country, did a survey on dog-owners and the holidays.
What the survey found didn’t personally shock me, but it might shock some of you…

If you’re a pet-owner, then you might have more than just humans on your list of ‘people’ to buy for! Yes, that’s right – you’re furry friends deserve to open something on Christmas morning too!
Chewy recently did a survey in which they asked all participants if they buy their pets gifts! Here were their findings that may or may not surprise you:
- 94 percent plan on shopping for their furry friends (dogs have the best reactions to gifts)
- 58 percent plan on buying 2 – 3 gifts (admittedly, this was 1 million percent me – even my boyfriend bought my dog at least 2 – 3 Christmas presents, and I love him even more for that)
- Some owners even admitted that their furry friends made the top of the list
- 65 percent admitted to buying their dogs gifts before any family members
- 58 percent plan on wrapping their pets’ gifts
- 87 percent plan on getting stockings to hold their pets’ gifts (I did both…sorry NOT sorry)
Giving a physical gift, such as a toy, wasn’t on the mind of all survey-takers from Chewy! Some pet-owners (one in three, to be exact) also shared that they plan on baking their furry friends some home-made treats!
In addition, let’s talk about decorations! Some pet-owners (one in four, to be exact) also shared that they plan on incorporating animals into their holiday decor themes this year!
