When it comes to naming a new dog or a brand new puppy that you are bringing into your home, that alone could be the most difficult part of it all. Sometimes when you look at your new dog’s super sweet face, you just know what their name is. When naming my heavenly fur brother, the second I laid eyes on him, before he was even officially mine, I was calling him and named him Jack.

However, if you’re struggling to name your dog, let’s dive into the top 10 most popular dog names list (as of August 2022, that is), according to NameBerry, in order to, hopefully, help you out.

In 2022, where does your dog’s name fit into the top ten? Let us know down below!

Top 5 Girl Dog Names of 2022

Starting with the ladies, because let’s be honest, we run this world, here are the top ten (starting at number 5 and ending at number 1) dog names to consider!

5. Lola

This name is super sweet and reminds me of a tropical dog who likes to wear sunglasses and sunbathe on the beach.

4. Daisy

This super pretty and floral name seems like the most perfect name for a puppy who looks sweet, but could also be up to no good, if you know what I mean.

3. Lucy

This name reminds me of Lucile Ball from I Love Lucy, but of course, we’re definitely not talking about how much she loved chocolate, that is.

2. Luna

This gorgeous name, while I feel is personally used just a bit too much in naming girl dogs, is still a good option, especially for people into astrology and all of that sort of stuff in general.

1. Bella

My late, sweet Grandma Millie’s dog was named Bella, and boy did she love her until her final days; this name is super cute nonetheless!

And for honorable mentions over here, the girl name coming in at number 100 is…Trixie!

Top 5 Boy Dog Names of 2022

Now moving onto the men, which are super cute and just so as handsome as literal ever, here are the top ten (starting at number 5 and ending at number 1) dog names to consider!

5. Rocky

While I’m not so sure that I would personally name my own dog ‘Rocky’ it’s definitely a name for a fighter, if you catch my reference!

4. Buddy

This particular name is so so cute if you ask me and the most perfect name for a furry little companion to fall asleep on the couch with you…all night long.

3. Milo

One of my good high-school/college friends had a dog named ‘Milo’, and while he is no longer with us, he was always a super sweet and loud boy.

2. Charlie

I don’t personally know anyone who has a dog named ‘Charlie’, but it’s actually super cute and I would consider this for the future, or give it to a friend for reference, that’s for sure.

1. Max

This is such a common name for a male dog that yes, while it is super cute, I also wouldn’t name my own dog this particular name – waaaaay too common if you ask me!

And for honorable mentions over here, the boy name coming in at lucky number 13 is…Jack!
