Because of a Virginia-based rescue facility, now more than 400 ‘surplus’ Beagles will get forever homes instead of facing euthanasia. These hundreds of Beagles were all born at a breeding facility that supplied the pups to research companies. Because of such a thing, these poor dogs never really knew what it was like to experience a loving home – or just a little bit of love in general.

According to a statement from Homeward Trails Animal Rescue, the 400 Beagles became ‘surplus’ from Envigo, a breeding company, during the pandemic and were no longer up for sale/adoption (however you wanna look at it).

Homeward Trails Animal Rescue agreed to take on all 400 of these sweet little pups, ensuring that they would each go to a loving forever home.

These research Beagles will now go to ‘Virginia and beyond’ with their forever homes!

As of March 25, 2022, Homeward Trails Animal Rescue has already moved 300 pups to additional partner shelters and other safe, happy, and healthy rescue facilities across ‘Virginia and beyond’. This was done so that they could safely have room to care for said dogs until they are adopted and officially move into their forever homes.

Homeward’s rescue executive, Sue Bell, made this following statement:

"“I would love nothing more than to have 400 Beagles at our shelter, that is obviously not possible. We have been lucky to have the amazing support of groups like the Kindness Ranch Animal Sanctuary in Wyoming, Priceless Pet Rescue in California, the Richmond SPCA, and other Virginia groups stepping up to take these dogs in.”~Sue Bell, Homeward Trails Animal Rescue’s Rescue Executive"

Obvious speaking, Envigo isn’t a bad organization here. They had simply too many dogs and are very grateful for Homeward Trails for helping them out, treating their dogs with love and respect, and also promising them all forever homes!
