On January 26, Schitt’s Creek star, Dan Levy, took to Instagram to share some very sad news. It seems that his beloved dog, Redmond, has passed away.

While Levy hadn’t shared a picture of his pup on social media since January 2021, the pup was often present on social media before that. In fact, in a post about Redmond’s history, where the actor was promoting the idea of adopting, not shopping for a pup, he wrote, “He had been mistreated and abandoned at an adoption fair in Los Angeles. Finding him was the greatest thing that ever happened to me.”

Then there was his interview with Vogue in 2019, Redmond was at his side and was even part of the series in terms of some of the questions that the actor was asked. It was a great look into who the actor was, in part because of his addition of his pup in the process.

During that Vogue interview, Dan Levy told everyone that Redmond was his “best friend” and he even said that the pup was “better than all of us.” So it makes sense that in honor of his passing, Levy took to social media to share a look back at his beloved pup with a message that honored his adopted dog in a very sweet and emotional post.

Dan Levy shares the sad news that his dog, Redmond, has died

In the caption for the Instagram post, Dan Levy wrote,

"Last week I lost my best friend. Heartbroken but grateful for every minute of the last ten years that I got to spend with him. I love you, my sweet boy."

Considering Levy adopted Redmond when he was about four years old, it is clear that the pup lived a very good life. And while we are sad for the actor, it is clear that he loved his pup for 10 years and his pup knew it.

We hate to see news like this and we are definitely sending our condolences to Dan Levy at this difficult time.
