The To the Rescue release date is now known!

The animal shelter simulator from developer Little Rock Games and publisher Freedom Games will release on Steam for PC and Mac very soon.

Players will operate an animal shelter in the fictional town of Yawning Falls, helping take care of the homeless pet population within the town, gradually building your reputation through good care to attract employees, volunteers and foster families.

While the Nintendo Switch version will have to wait a little longer, as “early 2022” is the current release window, no matter which version you buy 20 percent of the proceeds will help real-world rescue efforts via donations to the Petfinder Foundation.

The To the Rescue release date will be here soon.

So when will the To the Rescue release date be? It will drop on Thursday, November 4.

Among the final touches added were the Barkbook app, which lets members of the Yawning Falls community rate your efforts, weekly tasks and challenges (including applying for grants and running fundraisers at various places within the town), and if your shelter earns enough goodwill, then a foster network of volunteers will open up.

As the shelter director, you also need to balance the dogs’ nutritional, medical and mental needs and health, trying to find adoptive families that fit each dog’s personality perfectly.

“Our publisher has been doing amazing work helping us with the marketing side of the project, so we can stay focused on development,” lead developer Olivia Dunlap said in an email to Dog O’Day. “Since we’re such a small team, that has been incredibly valuable to us! With a sim/management game, even though a lot of our core features are already in place, there are always edge cases to tweak and new things to add and improve.”

While Little Rock Games has no official plans for their next project just yet, they plan on releasing updates and bug fixes for a while after release. For more about the Arkansas company, see their website for more details.
