In 2020, drama ensued when we learned that It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown would not be airing on network TV for the first time in five decades. And in 2021, we want to know whether or not we will be able to watch this Halloween special on TV once again.
At this point (as of the end of September), it seems unlikely that It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown will be available on network TV or even on a cable channel this Halloween season. Much like with what happened last year, it sounds like the only way we will be able to watch this special is to stream it.
And where can we stream this classic Halloween special starring Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Linus, and the rest of the Peanuts gang?
Where to stream It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown in 2021
Since it is unlikely we will see this Halloween special back on our TVs, we will have to turn to Apple TV+ for our streaming needs. In 2020, they did respond to backlash over removing the Peanuts specials from network TV by airing the Thanksgiving and Christmas specials on PBS and PBS Kids, but we don’t know yet if that will mean anything this year.
Considering we have all had a year to get used to the idea of these specials not being readily available unless we pay for another streaming service, it makes sense that they may not cave to fans of these Peanuts specials. This means we need to be ready to get our stream on.
Perhaps one of the most endearing Halloween or holiday specials of all time, closely followed by A Charlie Brown Christmas, the Great Pumpkin is a classic that transcends generations. And even if we have to pay for another streaming service, it may be worth it to watch the magic of Halloween and children’s imagination at work.
Do you think there is any chance that It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown will air on network TV this year? If it is only available on Apple TV+ (like it is right now), will you be watching this Halloween special in 2021? Let us know in the comments.
