The Bowling Green Hot Rods Turbo has officially joined the ranks of Minor League Baseball batdogs.

Turbo is a Golden Retriever who is following in the pawsteps of good batdogs like the Trenton Thunder’s Rookie the Batdog, the Las Vegas Aviators’ Finn, and the traveling Jake the Diamond Dog.

He joined the team in December 2019, but due to the pandemic, the 2020 minor league baseball season was canceled, which meant his debut in front of fans had to wait a while.

In the meantime, he’s become a big hit on Dog Twitter among the sports dogs, where he can be found at @HotRodsTurbo.

But the Hot Rods Turbo batdog debut opened well, as the Hot Rods triumphed 9-7 over the Greenville Drive on Tuesday night, August 10.

Hot Rods Turbo batdog made his debut in front of Bowling Green fans this week.

His pregame routine included listening to music, as happens with most athletes, and then once out on the field he did a fantastic job, even getting a shoutout from the official Minor League Baseball Twitter account.

His first career bat retrieval came at the bottom of the third inning, where Greenville was trailing 5-3 at the time.

Turbo is another fantastic addition to the minor leagues, and we wish him and his team the best of luck in the remainder of the season.

The Bowling Green Hot Rods are a Tampa Bay Rays affiliate, and they play in the South Division of the High-A East following the 2021 reorganization, after previously playing in the South Atlantic League and the Midwest League.

For the 2021 season, the Hot Rods are currently in first place in the South with a 60-25 record (for a .706 winning percentage), and they hold a seven-game lead over the second-place Greensboro Grasshoppers.
