Tom Daley went from winning a gold at the Olympics, to sitting on the sidelines knitting everything from sweaters to Doggy Jumpers. And we are here for it all!

Since we first watched Daley compete in the 2012 Summer Olympics, he has been on many people’s radar as one of the new faces of diving. And while he was able to bring home medals at both the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, neither were Gold. Fast forward to 2021 and the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, and Tom Daley finally has his gold medal.

And while we are all for celebrating that gold medal (we really are excited for the U.K. diver), what really has us excited is his sideline knitting projects.

Although we are fans of Daley, we didn’t know much about his knitting work before. And then he showed off the little cozy he knitted for his gold medal and we fell down an Instagram rabbit hole. But none of that compares to the Instagram story where the diver showed off exactly what he has been knitting on the sidelines since.

Tom Daley is enjoying his 2020 Olympics by knitting Doggy Jumpers (and winning gold)

While helping to cheer on his fellow Olympians, Daley has been sitting in the stands knitting. And on his Instagram stories he showed off one of the finished projects which turned out to be a Doggy Jumper! Using a pattern from Knittingland, it seems that the Olympian has been creating quite a few different jumpers over the last few months/years.

But at the Olympics, the one he was working on was actually for Izzy the Frenchie, who he tagged in stories when showing off the completed jumper. And yes, Izzy is also excited about this Doggy Jumper they are getting.

Honestly, the Olympics bring us as many feel good stories as they do triumphs and tragedies. And while we may be here for the competition, we are also here for the stories like this one where we get to see an Olympian we love knitting up dog clothing.

I never thought I would say this, but seeing Tom Daley knitting on the sidelines, especially knitting up Doggy Jumpers has us loving him even more.
