Miranda Lambert dog Jessi has gone Over the Rainbow Bridge.

This news was earlier reported by the country music news site The Boot.

Jessi was adopted after being found in a January sleet storm during the blizzard-filled Oklahoma winter of 2008, so she was at least 13 years old (roughly 90 in dog years).

This news follows not long after another of Lambert’s dogs, Waylon, passed away last October.

Miranda Lambert dog Jessi has crossed over the rainbow bridge.

“We sent her off with the song ‘Storms Never Last” from the same record she heard playing the first time I put her in my truck,” Lambert wrote in the Instagram post announcing the news.

“I can’t put into words what a dog’s love does to a heart, but if you have one, you already know.”

At the close of the post Lambert thanked the local vets at Animal Wellness and VRSM in the Nashville suburb of Franklin, as well as frequent dogsitters Sarah and Juliane for their care of both Waylon and Jessi.

Lambert was driving with her mom when they spotted both Waylon (named after country legend Waylon Jennings) and Jessi (who was named after Waylon Jennings’ wife).

Both Waylon and Jessi seem to be at least partially Golden Retriever, from Instagram photos of the pair, and it’s possible that they could have been litter siblings.

Many of Lambert’s friends within the industry immediately sent their condolences in the comments, including Pistol Annies bandmate Ashley Monroe.

Miranda Lambert’s latest album, a collaborative acoustic pandemic project called The Marfa Tapes, was released in May and can be found in stores and digital music sources. Also working on the project were fellow singer/songwriters Jack Ingram and Jon Raindall, who have worked with her on Lambert’s albums The Weight of These Wings and Wildcard.

While losing a pet is an extremely saddening curveball in life, we can be thankful for all their good moments that we got to share with them as well, which hurts a little bit. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Miranda and those who also knew Jessi well.
