Bubba Wallace dog Asher helped out with the NASCAR Cup Series driver’s proposal to longtime girlfriend Amanda Carter this week.

How helpful he actually was could be debated, however.

Since the Olympics break means a rare two-week stretch away from the racetrack, this has meant that drivers and crew members can soak up a little bit of fun, which includes hiking trips in Wallace’s case.

The Australian Shepherd/Poodle mix was featured on Dad’s car earlier this season at Nashville Superspeedway in a DoorDash/PetSmart teamup, and he even starred in his own commercial.

Judging by the Instagram photos, Asher doesn’t seem to excited about the actual proposal itself, and why would he be? There are far too many exciting smells to sniff! It is fun that he was included in the big moment, however.

Piloting the Michael Jordan-owned 23XI Racing No. 23 Toyota Camry, Wallace has a fifth-place finish at the second event of the Pocono Raceway doubleheader, with additional top-15 runs at Atlanta, Charlotte, Pocono and Sonoma, with many more potential top-10 runs derailed late by bad luck.

So while a 20th-place ranking in the standings two-thirds of the season (22 of 36 events completed) isn’t great, these are solid results for a first-year team beginning from scratch, even if they are a Joe Gibbs Racing satellite.

Wallace is in his fourth full-time Cup Series season, with four top fives, 10 top 10s and 83 laps led in 134 starts. His laps led and current place in the standings are by far his best at the top level, while he also has six career Double-A level Camping World Truck Series wins in addition to Triple-A level Xfinity Series experience.
