While not as varied as canine mascots or feline mascots, bird mascots are probably the most numerous, so as we’re going to go through across the States for animal mascots, we’re going to begin at the beginning of the alphabet with Alabama high school bird mascots.

High school sports in Alabama is governed by the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA), with 1A as the lowest classification and 7A the highest, though some private schools are governed by the Alabama Independent School Association, and there are a few other smaller governing bodies as well.

Founded in 1921, the AHSAA sanctions championships in baseball, basketball (boys and girls), cheer, cross country (boys and girls), football, soccer (boys and girls), softball, swimming and diving (boys and girls), track and field (indoor and outdoor, boys and girls), volleyball and wrestling.

Sources used to this research were MaxPreps and Mascot DB, so while we may have left out some of the Alabama high school bird mascots, we apologize.

It seems that, much like many male names in the Middle Ages, there are only about a dozen nicknames to choose from when it comes to Alabama high school sports.

What Alabama high school bird mascots are there out there?

Unsurprisingly, many of the Alabama high school bird mascots are known as the Eagles, as (by our count) 28 schools use this nickname.

These schools are Andalusia Pleasant Home, Autaugaville, Birmingham Oak Mountain, Calera, Center Point, Cold Springs, Decatur Heritage Christian, Dothan Providence Christian, Douglas, East Lawrence, Goshen, Hokes Bluff, Hoover Shades Mountain Christian, Hueyville Brooklane Baptist, Huntsville Columbia, Jackson Academy, Stumilton Christian, Talladega Academy, Thomaston Johnson, Tuscaloosa Open Door Christian, Millbrook New Life Christian, Millbrook Victory Bible, Montgomery Academy, Montgomery Alabama Christian, Oneota Appalachian, Ozark Carroll, Pisgah, and Vinemont.

There are also the Blue Eagles of East Brewton Neal, and the Golden Eagles from Athens, Jacksonville and Tuskegee Booker T Washington.

Five schools are the Falcons, and these are Anniston Donoho, Ashford Academy, Huntsville Catholic, Mobile Trinity Garden, and Tuscaloosa Central.

Only three schools use Cardinals, which is very low. These are Anniston Sacred Heart, Fairhope St Michael and McClellan Sacred Heart.

Finally, there are also the Danville Hawks, Daleville Warhawks and Montgomery Park Crossing Thunderbirds.
