Rob Lowe dog rescue in ocean pulled from TV role to real life
A Rob Lowe dog rescue in the ocean pulled from his TV life into the real world.
While the onetime member of the 1980s Hollywood Brat Pack currently plays a first responder on the Fox drama 9-1-1: Lone Star, he likely didn’t expect to have to actually use some of those skills in daily life.
Lowe’s German Shorthaired Pointer Oscar leapt into the Pacific Ocean while chasing a bird on Saturday, June 26, leading to the actor’s relatively-long journey outward to rescue him.
This news comes via Rob Lowe’s Instagram post.
Rob Lowe dog rescue came via an ocean adventure this weekend.
“Playing a first responder came in handy today,” Lowe captioned the post, noting that the photo doesn’t show much. “Quarter mile ocean paddle to rescue my dog.”
“He’s a GSP and they will clearly do anything to get a bird. Yikes!”
Yikes is right, and we’re really thankful that Oscar was rescued safely.
German Shorthaired Pointers are typically hunting dogs, specifically used to point out flocks of birds, scaring them from their hiding places into the air.
Rob Lowe adopted two new puppers in fall 2019, following the passing of his family’s longtime pet.
Lowe currently stars on 9-1-1: Lone Star as the lead Owen Strand, head of a fire company in Austin. He also is one of the executive producers on the series, which is currently in its second season.
He is also well-known for his TV roles as White House communications director Sam Seaborn on The West Wing and the perky fitness nut auditor Chris Traeger on Parks and Recreation, while movie roles include Soda Curtis in The Outsiders (based on SE Hinton’s young-adult classic of the same title), Billy in St Elmo’s Fire, and the eponymous minor league hockey player in Youngblood.
