The Westminster Dog Show for 2021 is officially under way and on June 12 we were treated to the joy of the Agility Competition. And while there were many highs of the competition, there were also a few lows.

There was something joyful about seeing 50 dogs going out there and putting it all on the line, showing off their training and speed for the Westminster viewers out there. And thanks to Fox News, we have a better run down of the event, since sometimes watching the competition meant not actually keeping track of the standings.

Perhaps the big low of the event was when one of the handlers fell during their dog’s run, leading to the pup not finishing fast enough because of a fault against their time. It was a sad moment, especially considering how fast Ripple the Boston Terrier had been to that point. But that low was made better by the fact that Ripple was able to cross the finish line, proving that he was still an agile pup no matter what.

But then we had some of the amazing highs, including the overall winner, a Border Collie named Verb who had actually won the competition back in 2019!

Westminster Dog Show is underway and we have seen some of the most agile pups compete!

One of our favorite competitors was an Australian Cattle Dog mix rescue, who had recovered from major surgery at the age of 8-years-old to come in fourth in the 12 inch class. The pup, whose name is Plop, won a very special award for the night as The Comeback Dog of the Year.

Considering the Agility Competition is actually separated from the Best in Show competition at Westminster, it allows any number of dogs to take part in the competition, including mixed breeds and rescues. It also meant that we got to see some cute doggy dances at the end of each run and plenty of sweet kisses too.

It was a great competition overall, and every single one of these pups was a winner in our eyes. But what did you think? Did you watch the Westminster Dog Show Agility Competition? Tell us your thoughts fellow dog lovers.
