As pet owners (and dog lovers), we know that we have a tendency to spoil our furry friends. But how much are we really spending on them on average? And which state sees pet owners spending the most money?
Thanks to Joy Organics, we actually have answers to these questions! In a study of pet owners and where pet lovers reside, Joy Organics came up with some statistics that may surprise you.
Not only did we learn that on average, pet owners in Kentucky are spending the most money per order on their pets, but we also learned the national average for pet spending as well.
So what did we learn? And how much are we really spending on our pets?
Joy Organics breaks down how much money we are spending on average for our pets
Obviously, numbers will vary based on the type of pet we are talking about and what you might be picking up, but it seems that the average amount pet owners are spending per order for their furry friends (or their feathered friends, we don’t know), is $74!
Other numbers that Joy Organics shared with us include:
- In Kentucky, pet owners are dropping around $129 per pet purchase!
- New Yorkers come in second for how much they spend on their pets with approximately $126 per purchase.
- Rounding out the top five states we have Georgia at $123, Mississippi at $121, and Texas at $104
- Pet owners in South Dakota and Iowa are at the bottom of the list, spending around $30 per order.
Honestly, we are pretty surprised by these findings, even as some of these numbers make perfect sense. We expect to see higher numbers in certain states, although some states were certainly more surprising than others. And knowing that the average pet owners spend on their pets is $74 is also interesting, because this is based on a per order average!
