Have you ever wondered if you were alone in feeling a certain away about being a pet parent? Kinship has released their first ever Modern Pet Parent Report, which might just put your mind at ease when it comes to the way you feel about your pups.
If you have ever felt guilty or even found yourself relying more on your pup for comfort, but thought that you might be alone in feeling this way, have no fear. A new study is making it clear that the pet parenting experience is even more universal than we ever might have imagined.
There was a lot of information that Kinship was able to gather from pet parents, but the majority of the focus seemed to be in the area of the bond between our pets and ourselves. And one of the major facts or statistics if you will that came from this report was that “71% of pet parents say they could not have survived 2020 without their pet.”
After how difficult 2020 was for so many people, this statistic does not surprise us in the least. But at the same time, it is nice to see pet parents acknowledging the importance of their animals in getting through the year.
Kinship’s Modern Pet Parent Report gives us a look at the pet parent experience
Other statistics that stood out in the report from Kinship include the fact that, “62% of pet parents say their top priority is their pets’ happiness.” In fact, it seems that many pet parents experience a sense of guilt and stress when it comes to possibly disappointing their pets, just like we would feel if we were disappointing a human child or a loved one.
The fact that “80% say their pet(s) deserve more of their time this year,” is another number that actually surprised us because after 2020 one would think that we were giving our pets more time and attention. And yet, just because we were home with them, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the time with them was as enriching as it could have been.
We love learning new facts and figures revolving around our pets. And when it comes to learning more about how other people are dealing with being dog owners and pet parents, it gives us a sense of not being alone.
