Puppy Bowl XVII: Team Ruff Lineup

This year more than ever we need the distractions of two of America’s favorite pastimes that take place on the first Sunday in February. Of course, we’re talking about the Super Bowl and the Puppy Bowl. The Puppy Bowl features Team Ruff taking on Team Fluff, while the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers play later.

Super Bowl LV will take place on Sunday evening in Tampa Bay, Florida. For the first time in NFL history, the home team of the hosting city is one of the teams competing for the championship. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will face the defending 2020 Super Bowl Champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Puppy Bowl finds Team Ruff taking on Team Fluff in this year’s highly anticipated canine classic on Animal Planet and Discovery+. For the last 16 years, the Puppy Bowl has a 100 percent adoption rate of all puppies and kittens featured; if the past is the prediction of the future, all of the puppies will be winners, no matter which team wins.

The Team Ruff full lineup is revealed…

The canine players come from 22 shelters and rescues from nine northeastern states. Team Ruff consists of 33 players with a diverse background of breeds.

Nearly all of the pups are mixed breed pups, and the American Staffordshire Terrier is the most represented breed, with 13 pups being an either full-blooded or mixed breed. The Beagle and Coonhound breed are the next most represented with eight dogs participating. Without further adieu, let’s meet Team Ruff.
