Car safety tips for your dogs from YourMechanic.com

Whether you are familiar with these tips or not, here are the car safety tips that mechanics have for us when we are hitting the road with our pups.

  • No pets should ever be in the bed of a truck as they have no real security.
  • Make sure to secure your dog to the seat of the car using a seat belt or car seat.
  • If you are leaving your dog alone in the car, make sure to remove collars and leashes so that they do not accidentally get tangled up or hooked on anything.
  • Related to the last tip, remember not to leave your dog in a hot vehicle.
  • Finally this tip comes from us, and we recommend not leaving anything in reach of your dog that is potentially poisonous, hazardous, or just in general they should not be messing with. (Everything from anti-freeze to windshield wiper fluid can cause serious issues for your dog’s health.)
