Taylor Swift has included her cats in this year’s holiday cards.

Taylor Swift has included her trio of cats in this year’s holiday cards, which only seems right and just.

While most Swifties know who the kitties are, maybe our Dog O’Day readers don’t, so they are (oldest to youngest) Meredith, Olivia and Benjamin Button. Meredith and Olivia were named after Ellen Pompeo and Kerry Washington’s characters on Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, respectively, while Benjamin was named after Brad Pitt’s character in the 2008 movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which was based on an F Scott Fitzgerald short story.

This was earlier reported by People Magazine, who seem to have learned about it from a Twitter post shared by Louisville DJ Kyle Meredith.

“Getting a holiday card from Taylor Swift is always a great way to start the season,” Kyle Meredith captioned the post. “And cats in Santa hats make it even better.”

The photo comes from the same washed-out woodsy stylings of the cover art for Swift’s surprise album folklore in July 2020, which also got its own documentary/concert movie on Disney Plus last month in folklore: the long pond studio sessions.

Earlier this week Swift revealed the surprise announcement of a second 2020 album titled evermore, described as a “sister record” to the acoustic-heavy and thoughtful folklore, both of which were written entirely during the pandemic.

In the foiklore documentary Swift explains how she recorded the album in a hastily-built home studio in the bedroom that she decided to name Kitty Committee Studios, since the cats were playing in the background during recording (if she shut them out they’d meow incessantly, messing up takes).

Cats wrestling in play is always a fun sight to watch, so that was a nice bonus to catch during the credits.

Benjamin was revealed to the world in the music video for “ME!”, the lead single duet with Panic at the Disco’s Brendan Urie from 2019’s Lover that has absolutely no tonal connection to anything else on the album.
