2020 Week 6 saw some pupsets in college football.

2020 Week 6 in the college football world saw some pupsets for canine schools in NCAA Division I, and as always, the dogs of Instagram were cheering on their favorite teams.

Also as always, Dog O’Day will look at how the schools using canine mascots fared, as well as schools with vet med programs.

2020 Week 6 began for our purposes on Saturday, October 10, as we’ll start with the SEC, where Smokey the Coonhound’s No. 14 Tennessee Volunteers faced Uga’s No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs on CBS.

Uga emerged victorious after Georgia cruised in in second half to win 44-21, which moves UGA to 3-0 on the year, while Tennessee drops to 2-1. The SEC is only playing conference games this season.

Reveille the Collie‘s No. 21 Texas A&M Aggies hosted the No. 3 Florida Gators (favorite team of our columnist Holland the Pup), and it took a field goal on the last play of the game to give the Aggies a 41-38 win. Both teams are now 2-1.

Bully’s Mississippi State Bulldogs were nearly shut out by the Kentucky Wildcats, losing 24-2. Mississippi State is now 1-2.

In Conference USA, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs topped the UTEP Miners 21-17, moving to 3-1, 2-0 so far this season.

In the Sun Belt, the Arkansas State Red Wolves welcomed the Central Arkansas Panthers in a rescheduled nonconference contest, and Arkansas State moves to 2-2, 0-1 after the 50-27 triumph.

Also, the FCS Bulldogs from The Citadel fought hard but came up short against the Black Knights of Army, falling 14-9. Their 2020 season is now over at 0-4.

Moving on to how vet schools fared in 2020 Week 6 now…

In the ACC, Rookie the Batdog‘s No. 19 Virginia Tech Hokies lost a pinball game at North Carolina, as the No. 8 Tar Heels outscored them 56-45.  VT falls to 2-1, both in-conference and overall.

The North Carolina State Wolfpack sounded thumped the Virginia Cavaliers 38-21, improving to 3-1 both in-conference and overall.

No. 24 Iowa State welcomed the Texas Tech Red Raiders to town in Big 12 action, and the Cyclones cruised to a 31-15 win in an afternoon ABC contest, improving to 3-1, 3-0.

The Kansas State Wildcats topped the TCU Horned Frogs 21-14 in the afternoon Fox game.

In the SEC, the No. 13 Auburn Tigers benefited from a missed fumble call to kick a game-winning field goal late to give them a 30-28 triumph over the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The No. 17 LSU Tigers faced off with the Missouri Tigers in a game played in Columbia (Mo.) because of Hurricane Delta, and Mizzou’s defense used a goal-line stand to hand LSU their second loss in a row, as LSU is now 2-2 following the 45-41 defeat.

dark. Next. AKC PupPals program bringing joy in rough times

Georgia-Alabama and Oklahoma State-Baylor dominate 2020 Week 7, but we’re most excited for Texas A&M-Mississippi State.
