Grumpy Cat fans can rejoice, as a successor in Grumpy Cat II has been found.

It’s been over a year now since Grumpy Cat crossed over the rainbow bridge. But a successor in Grumpy Cat II may ascend to the throne of Queen of Internet Cats.

Though Tartar Sauce passed away in May 2019 at the age of 7 due to complications from a urinary tract infection, her legacy lives on, which is a great thing.

According to People Magazine, this possible claimant to the title of Grumpy Cat II is Kitzia, a brownish striped kitty with a natural frowny expression. She goes by the handle @Grumpy_Kitzia, and has 56,000 followers.

People says that Kitzia’s actual personality, like that of Tartar Sauce, is in reality very sweet, going against her typecasting, and from her pictures, her expression is not so much “grumpy” as it is “permanently alarmed.” Anxiety Cat doesn’t have quite the same positive sound, though, which is a bummer.

Kitzia lives in Florida with her owner/photgrapher Viktoria Otdielnova, according to Bored Panda, and her name is Ukrainian for “kitty,” which earns extra points for originality due to being in a foreign language, even if the name itself isn’t as creative as other possible monikers. But naming a pet is hard.

While we mostly write about good doggos here at Dog O’Day (for obvious reasons), we love our kitty cats (both in real life and among the Cats of Instagram) as well, and we think this is a very good one.

Tartar Sauce went on to star in commercials, appear on TV, and even got her own Hallmark Channel movie in Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever, with Parks and Recreation‘s Aubrey Plaza providing her voice in a perfect casting choice.

It remains to be seen whether Kitzia will climb to those heights or not, but we say she should be given the chance. But what about you, do you think Kitzia should earn the title of Grumpy Cat II?
