The upcoming Disney Plus Turner and Hooch TV series has added two more members of its cast.

The upcoming Disney Plus Turner and Hooch TV series has added Lyndsy Fonseca and Carra Patterson to its cast.

This news was previously reported earlier this week by Deadline.

The 12-episode series, based on the 1989 film starring Tom Hanks (see our review) will star Josh Peck (Drake and Josh, Ice Age franchise, Grandfathered) as Scott Turner, who is now a US marshal instead of a police detective in the small Northern California city of Cypress Beach.

This fits with the recent trend of rebooting classic TV shows in the modern day, like with CBS’ much-inferior new MacGyver.

According to Deadline, Fonseca will play Scott’s sister Laura, who has a son named Matthew. They have a soft spot for dogs with special needs, which is a nice amount of depth to the character description, and are responsible for bringing a colossal slobbery Mastiff named Hooch into Scott’s life. This role is original to the series.

Fonseca has had main roles on The Young and the Restless and Nikita, though she is likely known more for playing the Daughter on How I Met Your Mother and Peggy’s roommate Angie Martinelli in Agent Carter. Another recurring role was Dylan on Desperate Housewives.

In real life, Fonseca often includes her dogs on her Instagram account.

Patterson will play Scott’s work partner Jessica, who is described as much more laid-back and carefree. This role is based on David Sutton (Reginald VelJohnson) from the movie.

Patterson’s most recognizable credit so far comes from the 2015 film Straight Outta Compton, where she played Tomica.

The Turner and Hooch TV series will be written and executive produced by The Gifted creator Matt Nix, and the studio involved is 20th Century TV. A release date is currently unknown, though it seems likely to arrive by spring or summer 2021.
