Shelter lets pets pick their own Christmas presents from under the tree
By Madison Sago
An animal shelter recently let their shelter pets join in on the Christmas spirit by letting them choose their own presents right from under the Christmas tree!
Sharing and opening gifts during the holidays are things that adults and children love to do together and is definitely a tradition for many families at Christmastime. For mine and many other families, the furry friends always join in and even get plenty of gifts of their own! But don’t shelter pets deserve presents, too?
That being said, there are many pups living in shelters waiting for their furever homes around the holidays and one animal rescue shelter in Iowa sought out to give their animals a very special holiday season.
Recently, the Animal Rescue League of Iowa let their shelter pets choose their own presents from under the Christmas tree! An article from Cesar’s Way shares that five dogs and four cats were able to search through the assortment of gifts to choose their favorites. The article shares photos from the Animal Rescue League of Iowa and they are a sure-fire way to warm up your heart with holiday joy!
When it came to picking gifts, some of the pups were more cautious and did a little searching and sniffing before making a choice. They also shared that one dog was just soaking up all the attention for so long that he didn’t even play with his toy until afterwards!
They also said that of course, in true cat fashion, the cats were too busy playing on top of the toys!
The article says that the gifts were donations as part of the Animal Rescue League of Iowa’s “Tree of Life” program which brings in supplies and toys from the community that the shelter relies on for several months.
There’s even some extra exciting news that they shared: all animals but one got a forever home for this Christmas!
You can learn more about the shelter, its program, and how to donate through links shared in the Cesar’s Way article!
