Week 12 of the 2019 college football season saw many canine schools in action.

Week 12 of the 2019 college football saw many canine schools do very well, though many had the week off.

As always, the dogs of Instagram were out in full force cheering on their favorite canine schools, though their humans weren’t especially cooperative in taking their pictures this week.

Due to sickness among the Dog O’Day staff, we are a little late in getting our recap of this week’s score in, but here it is.

Week 12 began, for our purposes, on Wednesday, November 13 in the Mid-American Conference, where Mission’s Northern Illinois Huskies topped the Toledo Rockets 31-28 to improve to 3-3 in conference and 4-6 overall.

On Friday, November 15 in Conference USA, Louisiana Tech’s Bulldogs suffered their first conference loss at the hooves of the Marshall Thundering Herd, 31-10. Louisiana Tech is still 8-2 overall, however.

On the other end of the country in the Mountain West Conference, the Fresno State Bulldogs came up on the short end of a defensive struggle against San Diego State, falling 17-7 to the Aztecs. Fresno State is now 4-6 overall and 2-4 in conference.

On Saturday, November 16 in the Southeastern Conference, Uga’s No. 4 Bulldogs traveled to Auburn and defeated the No. 12 Tigers 21-14, improving to 9-1 overall and 6-1 in SEC play.

Bully’s Mississippi State Bulldogs were steamrolled at home by the No. 5 Alabama Crimson Tide 38-7, but Bama lost, too – starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is out for the season after dislocating his hip late in the first half.

Our friend Holland the Pup was cheering on her No. 11 Florida Gators as they faced the Missouri Tigers in Columbia, and the Gators emerged victorious after the scoreboard read 23-6 in Florida’s favor at the end.

Reveille the Collie’s Aggies improved to 7-3 for the year with their 30-6 thumping of the South Carolina Gamecocks, thoroughly protecting their territory of Kyle Field.

In the Atlantic Coast Conference, the North Carolina State Wolfpack dropped a 34-20 contest to the Louisville Cardinals, falling to 4-6 overall and 1-5 in the ACC.

In the Sun Belt Conference, the Arkansas State Red Wolves eked out a home triumph over the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 28-27. Arkansas State is now bowl-eligible at 6-4 overall and 4-2 in Sun Belt action.

In the Mountain West, No. 21 Boise State crushed the New Mexico Lobos 42-9, keeping Kohl the tee-retrieval dog very happy. Boise State is now 9-1 overall and undefeated in MWC play, while New Mexico drops to 2-8, winless in conference.

Over the next two weeks, rivalry games will begin in earnest as states and communities are divided by partisan fandom.
