Thanks to the Butterfly Network, animal care has never been more portable. And with the introduction of Butterfly iQ Vet, ultrasounds are easier than ever.

On Nov. 13, Butterfly Network announced that they were releasing their Butterfly iQ Vet, a portable ultrasound system that would make animal care easier than ever before.

In a press release from the company, they shared the news that veterinarians would have even greater portability and even reliability in terms of the care they can offer their animal patients. For the first time ever, vets will have access to groundbreaking technology, which is essentially “ultrasound-on-a-chip.”

While this technology runs around $2,000, it offers vets a chance to get their hands on diagnostic imaging they might not be able to afford otherwise. And with a lack of access, many vets find themselves having to refer the work out to radiologists.

What Butterfly Network offers is a chance for even small town vets to get their hands on the kind of technology that allows them to scan animals of all sizes, no matter where they are. From dogs to horses, the Butterfly iQ Vet is the ideal imaging tool for helping to transform the way that all animals are cared for.

According to Dr. Richard Markell of the Butterfly Network, ““Butterfly iQ Vet’s portability, ease-of-use and, most of all, affordability, brings a new dimension to the way we can treat animals. For years, the veterinary community has been eager for more access to ultrasound, and now, through the introduction of iQ Vet, we’ll be able to transform the landscape of animal healthcare – empowering vets to make more timely, precise and efficient diagnoses.”

On top of being the perfect portable ultrasound technology for veterinarians, the Butterfly iQ Vet is also a great device for avoiding discomfort. After all, this technology does not require the use of general anesthesia, and of course it does not emit radiation. Overall, this is the kind of technology that makes animal care easier than ever and that is something we can all support.

If this technology helps to revolutionize the way vets practice animal care, then it is a step in the right direction for improving overall healthcare in a field that sometimes feels to be forgotten.
