Week 9 of the 2019 college football season saw the dogs of Instagram cheering on their favorite schools.
Week 9 of the 2019 college football season is now in the books, and as always, the dogs of Instagram were cheering on their favorite team from the comfort of the couch, wearing their lucky bandanna, T-shirt or hat.
Also as always, Dog O’Day will look at how the canine schools of the NCAA’s Division I fared in this weekend’s contests.
Week 9 was a little light on canine schools, as many had bye weeks.
Bonnie the Beagle had her favorite football chew toy, all ready to play if someone needed her.
The action began in the Southeastern Conference as West Division foes faced off with Texas A&M hosting Mississippi State in College Station. Reveille the Collie’s Aggies topped Bully’s Bulldogs 49-30, improving to 5-3 (3-2 SEC) while MSU fell to 3-5 (1-4 SEC).
In the SEC East, Smokey the Coonhound’s Tennessee Volunteers walloped the Gamecocks of South Carolina 41-21, bettering their record to 3-5 (2-3 SEC).
Jonathan’s UConn Huskies triumphed in a nonconference matchup on the road against the UMass Minutemen in a high-scoring 56-35 affair, UConn is now 2-6 for the 2019 season.
In the Mid-American Conference, Mission’s Northern Illinois Huskies had no trouble with the visiting Akron Zips, shutting them out 49-0 to improve to 3-5 (2-2 MAC).
Moving on to the Sun Belt Conference, the Arkansas State Red Wolves pounded the visiting Texas State Bobcats 38-14, the Red Wolves are now 4-4 and 2-2 in Sun Belt play.
In Big 12 Conference action, the Oklahoma State Cowboys upset the No. 23 Iowa State Cyclones 34-27 in Ames, the Pokes are now 5-3 on the year and 2-3 in conference play.
Moby the Bichon Friese was very happy with the OSU win, and added a spooky Halloween bandanna to the Cowboys jersey.
Conference USA’s Louisiana Tech Bulldogs continued their winning ways on the road at UTEP, biting the Miners 42-21. Louisiana Tech is now 7-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
In the Mountain West, Nevada’s Wolf Pack were overcome by the Wyoming Cowboys, who triumphed 31-3. Nevada is now 4-4 overall and 1-3 in MWC play.
Nova was one happy Wyoming pupper.
The Colorado State Rams traveled to Fresno and toppled the Fresno State Bulldogs 41-31, improving to 3-5 (2-2 MWC), while Fresno State is now 3-4 (1-2 MWC).
The New Mexico Lobos were vanquished by the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors 45-31, falling to 2-6 overall (0-4 MWC).
Week 10 will feature the classic SEC rivalry game between Uga’s No. 8 Georgia Bulldogs and Holland the Pup‘s No. 6 Florida Gators in Jacksonville, and a battle for control of the Sunflower State in Lawrence.
