Week 7 of the 2019 college football season saw some huge matchups, and the canine contingent of the NCAA’s Division I schools did pretty well.

(See here for more on the schools with canine mascots.)

As always, the dogs of Instagram were supporting their favorite teams and wearing their appropriate bandannas, T-shirts, collars and hats to prove it, but due to a very busy week for the Dog O’Day staff, we got a little behind on this recap and won’t be including social media posts this week.

The action started on Thursday, October 10, in the Atlantic Coast Conference, as the North Carolina State Wolfpack overcame the visiting Syracuse Orange 16-10 to improve to 4-2 overall, 1-1 in conference play.

On Friday, October 11, in the Mountain West Conference, the visiting Rams of Colorado State topped the New Mexico Lobos 35-21, CSU improving to 2-5 overall while UNM fell to 3-4.

On Saturday, October 12, the biggest game of the day was in the Southeastern Conference as Reveille the Collie’s No. 24 Texas A&M Aggies hosted the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide at Kyle Field, and they fought hard but ultimately fell 47-28.

While that was happening the in the SEC West, the biggest upset came in the SEC East as the South Carolina Gamecocks upset the No. 3 Bulldogs in Athens. It took double overtime, but South Carolina triumphed 20-17, which Uga wasn’t thrilled with.

Kohl the tee retrieval dog was pleased with the way his No. 14 Boise State Broncos played, as they dispatched the visiting Hawaii Rainbow Warriors 59-37 in a Mountain West clash.

Back in the SEC, Smokey the Coonhound’s Tennessee Volunteers topped Bully’s Mississippi State Bulldogs 20-10 in Knoxville.

In the MAC mascot Mission the Husky was glad that Northern Illinois was victorious in their road trip to face Ohio, as the final score was Huskies 39, Bobcats 36.

In the American Athletic Conference, Jonathan the Husky wasn’t so fortunate, as UConn was pounded down in New Orleans by the Tulane Green Wave, with a final score of 49-7.

In the Mountain West, Nevada’s Wolf Pack worked as a unit to thwart the visiting San Jose State Spartans 41-38, improving to 4-2 overall.

In Conference USA, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs overcame the UMass Minutemen 69-21, improving to 5-1 overall.

The Fresno State Bulldogs couldn’t defeat the Falcons of Air Force in a Mountain West clash in Colorado Springs. The 43-24 loss drops them to 2-3 on the season.

Finally to wrap things up for Week 7 in the Pac-12 Conference, Dubs’ Washington Huskies traveled south to Arizona and whipped the Wildcats 51-27, improving to 3-2 for the season.
