2019 canine college football roundup: Week 6
Week 6 of the 2019 college football season is underway, and the Dogs of Instagram are supporting their favorite teams.
Week 6 of the 2019 college football season didn’t provide many upsets, though it was a bit of a rough day for the canine schools of the NCAA’s Division I.
As always, the dogs of Instagram were fully supporting their teams and wearing their favorite jerseys, T-shirts, hats and bandannas (though not all at once, that would be weird).
The action of Week 6 started on Friday, October 4, as the New Mexico Lobos fell in a Mountain West matchup on the road at San Jose State, as the Spartans claimed the 32-21 victory.
Our friend Holland the Pup had a hard time deciding what to wear on Saturday as she prepped for a road trip from Colorado to Ontario – all three of her favorite teams were playing! What’s a sports-loving girl to do?
Happily for Holland, her No. 10 Florida Gators won a decisive Southeastern Conference showdown 24-13 over the No. 7 Auburn Tigers.
Uga’s No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs destroyed Smokey the Coonhound’s Tennessee Volunteers 43-14 in an SEC East battle.
Out west in the Pac-12, the Stanford Cardinal toppled the No. 15 Washington Huskies 23-13, which UW mascot Dubs won’t appreciate all that much.
Otis the Cocker Spaniel was wearing his Michigan State bandanna for the huge Big Ten night game on ABC against No. 4 Ohio State, but unfortunately the No. 25 Spartans fell to the Buckeyes.
In a Mountain West contest the No. 16 Boise State Broncos cruised past the UNLV Rebels 38-13, staying undefeated, which Kohl the tee-retrieval dog should be thrilled with.
UConn’s mascot Jonathan probably wasn’t too happy with the results of the Huskies’ American Athletic Conference game against South Florida – the Bulls stomped them 48-22.
In the Sun Belt, the Red Wolves of Arkansas State were bested by the Panthers from Georgia State, with a final score of 52-38 in the home team’s favor.
In the MAC, Mission’s Northern Illinois Huskies fell at home to the Ball State Cardinals 27-20.
Duke the Bush’s Beans Dog had a good day watching the games.
Bully, the Mississippi State live mascot, was still recovering after being run over during last week’s game against Auburn. He was glad MSU had a bye week.
Week 7 prominently features the No. 6 Oklahoma Sooners and the No. 11 Texas Longhorns battling for supremacy in the Big 12 in the Red River Showdown at the Cotton Bowl.
