Our sister site Gone Puck Wild is hosting a fantasy hockey league this season.

Our FanSided Network sister site Gone Puck Wild is hosting a fantasy hockey league for the 2019-20 NHL season, which started last night, Wednesday, October 2.

It consists of eight teams, one of which is operated by Wesley (Bark Attack). At least two other players have FanSided connections, as GPW expert Brennen Rupp (The King of Norway) is the commissioner, and contributor Lake Martin also has a team (Lake Martin’s Team).

The five other teams are the Ice Horses, Jackson’s Team, the Northern Lights, Pooks United, and We Got the Cup.

Wesley is new to fantasy hockey, as are several other players, so it should be fun figuring out how it works, as they fight for the first-place prize of a free Minnesota Wild T-shirt.

His methodology for drafting his roster was to pick solid players with connections to hockey dogs.

So from the Vegas Golden Knights he has center Jonathan Marchessault, right wings Reilly Smith and Mark Stone, and goalie Marc-Andre Fleury.

From the Washington Capitals he has center Nicklas Backstrom, right wing TJ Oshie and goalie Braden Holtby.

Left wings Filip Forsberg (Nashville Predators), Evander Kane (San Jose Sharks), and dog owner Alex DeBrincat (Chicago Blackhawks) go well with defensemen Kevin Shattenkirk (Tampa Bay Lightning), PK Subban (New Jersey Devils, former Canadien and Predator) and Alex Pietrangelo (St Louis Blues).

The rest of the roster, with no canine connections that we are aware of, includes Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy, Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere and Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews.

Because there likely isn’t much audience market for updates on the season’s progression, we won’t be giving weekly updates like with college football, but instead will go on more of a monthly basis for updating the standings, etc.

We will also be tracking the NHL hockey dogs’ teams this season, though how frequently has yet to be determined.
