Week 1 of the 2019 NCAA college football season is underway, and the dogs of Instagram are cheering on their favorite teams and schools from the comfort of the couch, wearing their lucky collars and bandannas for good luck.

As always, some of the canine schools did well during Week 1, while others didn’t go quite as well, and we’re here at Dog O’Day to wrap up the action in Division I.

The action started in the Southeastern Conference at Kyle Field on Thursday, August 29, when the No. 12 Texas A&M Aggies hosted the Texas State Bobcats, crushing their opponents by a 41-7 score, making Reveille the Collie quite happy.

In the American Athletic Conference, the UConn Huskies topped the Wagner Seahawks 24-21.

The Gardner-Webb Bulldogs were soundly thumped by the Charlotte 49ers 49-28.

The Albany Great Danes were defeated 38-21 when they visited the Central Michigan Chippewas.

On Friday, August 30, the Nevada Wolf Pack survived the visiting Purdue Boilermakers 34-31 on a last-second 56-yard field goal.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs were run over 45-14 by the No. 10 Texas Longhorns when they visited Austin.

The No. 13 Washington Huskies clobbered the Eastern Washington Eagles 47-14, which mascot Dubs was thrilled by.

Clark the Corgi puppy made sure to wear his Iowa State Cyclones bandanna for his first game.

It took the No. 21 Cyclones triple overtime to do so, but they finally topped the visiting Northern Iowa Panthers 29-26, making Clark a very happy doggo.

In a game rescheduled to Tallahassee instead of the neutral Jacksonville because of Hurricane Dorian, the Boise State Broncos rallied from an 18-point deficit to shock the Florida State Seminoles, which Kohl the tee-retrieval Lab would be pleased by.

Still in the Atlantic Coast Conference, the North Carolina State Wolfpack pounded the East Carolina Pirates 34-6.

Visiting Louisiana-Lafayette, the Mississippi State Bulldogs emerged victorious after defeating the Ragin’ Cajuns by a 38-28 score.

Smokey the Coonhound and the rest of the Tennessee Volunteers fanbase had to be stunned by the Vols’ 38-30 upset loss at the hands of the Georgia State Panthers.

The New Mexico Lobos survived hosting the Sam Houston State Bearkats 39-31.

The Northern Illinois Huskies toppled the Redbirds of Illinois State 24-10, which Mission the mascot greatly enjoyed.

The SMU Mustangs won on the road 37-30 when they invaded the Arkansas State Red Wolves’ den.

The visiting Houston Baptist Huskies nearly upset the UTEP Miners when they traveled to El Paso, falling by a 36-34 score.

Finally, the Fresno State Bulldogs fought hard with the USC Trojans, falling 31-23.

Lincoln is a Chicago dog, but he’s hoping needs a mascot.

On a rare Sunday college football game, the No. Sooners had no trouble with the visiting Houston Cougars, winning 49-31 as transfer quarterback Jalen Hurts dazzled in his Sooner debut.
