On National Dog Day, people were out in full force on social media, sharing their love of their pups. For Khloe Kardashian it was about honoring her late dog.

On National Dog Day, social media was all about honoring dogs in many ways. From everyday people to celebrities, it seemed like everyone got into the spirit of sharing pictures and stories of their pups. And one of those celebrities who took to social media was Khloe Kardashian.

According to People Magazine, Kardashian opted to pay tribute to her late dog, Gabbana, using her Instagram story. On her story, the reality star started off by saying that she could never forget her pup. Then she followed that up by sharing special moments featuring Gabbana.

From a picture of the pup wearing reindeer ears, to Khloe Kardashian taking the pup for a ride in a Rolls Royce, it seemed like Gabbana was very special to the star. In fact, a second message posted to the story made it clear that Kardashian really believes that the pup and her daughter, True, would be the best of friends. “I think about you always and how much you and baby True would be in love with another.”

Sadly, Gabbana passed away in January of 2018 at the age of 14. This means that the pup and True never had the chance to meet, as Khloe Kardashian was pregnant at the time of the dog’s passing.

Considering Kardashian officially adopted Gabbana at the age of 11 after the split between Kris Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner (nee Bruce Jenner at the time of the separation), it is touching to see just how important the pup was to Khloe. As a family dog, it makes sense that all of the Kardashian and Jenner family members might love Gabbana, but clearly she had a special place in Khloe Kardashian’s heart, even after all this time.

While National Dog Day might be a great way to celebrate our pups, it is also nice to remember the ones we have lost. And this particular tribute is definitely a touching reminder of that.
