Daniel Levy shares a picture of himself and his pup Redmond on Twitter in honor of Clear the Shelters Day
On August 17, rescues across the country took part in Clear the Shelters Day. And in honor of his own rescue, Daniel Levy shared a picture of his pup on Twitter.
The weekend of August 16 saw shelters across the country taking part in Clear the Shelters Day, an annual tradition that connects animals in need of a home with people looking for new fur babies. On top of shelters and rescues sharing their stories, celebrities such as Daniel Levy, took to social media to share their own stories of their furry friends’ adoptions.
On Twitter, the star of Schitt’s Creek shared an adorable picture of himself with his rescue pup, Redmond. While the picture itself is enough to have us smiling and going gaga over the pup and his owner, it was Levy’s thoughts on bringing his dog home that caught our attention.
In his post reminding people of the importance of Clear the Shelters initiatives, Daniel Levy explained that when he brought Redmond home with him, the pup was already four-years-old. According to the actor, “Finding him was the greatest thing that ever happened to me.” (Honestly, we love this sentiment and completely understand where he is coming from.)
However, that is not all that Levy had to say as he also pointed out that people looking for a pet need to consider the reality of being a dog owner. There is a lot that goes into bringing a pup home from the shelter, including whether or not you actually have the means to take care of them. Once that has been taken into consideration, Daniel Levy asked that everyone “PLEASE consider adopting.”
We agree with Levy about not only the importance of knowing what is needed to bring home a new furry friend, but also checking out shelters and rescues when it comes time to find a new pet for the family. There are always dogs and cats needing new homes at the shelters, and if you happen to be looking for a companion, what better way to do that than to rescue an animal who needs you too?
