A Miami Marlins fan showed the world how to dress up for a ballgame.

At a recent Miami Marlins game, a Major League Baseball fan displayed how dogs ought to wear pants properly, and did pretty well at getting a head start on his 2019 Halloween costume, too.

Schnauzer of some size attended the Bark at the Park contest against the Atlanta Braves on Sunday, August 11, in full uniform, wearing not only a Marlins jersey, but also pants.

The Dog O’Day staff noticed this thanks to Cut 4, the part of Major League Baseball’s website devoted to lighthearted fun stuff, similar to how Page 2 worked at ESPN’s website.

The dog’s name is Rudy, and while he didn’t wear a hat, dog heads don’t quite work for a lot of them, so that’s okay. He does seem to be dressed up in the team’s new duds, after they returned to the teal and black color scheme they originally used for two decades as the Florida Marlins. (Teal and black is a significantly underused color combo in pro sports.)

The question sometimes comes up on the internet, that since dogs don’t really wear pants, how would they go, on all four legs like humans, or only on the back legs, leaving the front paws like arms?

Obviously, the answer in our opinion is the back legs only, but really dogs just look ridiculous in pants, and they would be too uncomfortable.

The Braves took the game by a 5-4 score at their home ballpark of SunTrust Park, by the way.

The Marlins are currently fifth (and last) in the National League East, with a 44-73 record they’re 24 and a half games behind division-leading Atlanta with roughly 40 games to go in the season.

While they’re having a rough year, their .376 winning percentage isn’t the very lowest in baseball – there are three other teams with lower winning percentages right now.

But the losing seasons are when dog smiles are even more necessary, so Marlins fans can be grateful for Rudy’s appearance.
