We all know that as pet parents, our animals are as much a part of the family as any human. And for David Price, losing a dog meant honoring his memory.

When we lose a dog, it can be devastating. Not only are they a part of our family, but the loss of their unconditional love can be hard to handle. For Red Sox pitcher, David Price, the loss of his pup Astro is one that he is sharing with fans.

Over the years, Astro made quite an impression as a Major League Baseball dog, and it has as much to do with his owner as it did his own adorable nature. Price’s dog not only had his very own bobblehead doll, but was even given the key to the city of Tampa. This alone is enough to make it clear that the French Bulldog was special.

However, since losing Astro, David Price has made sure to honor his beloved pup’s memory. Not only did he post a series of pictures and videos to social media, but at a recent game against the Dodgers, the pitcher even had something special on his ball cap.

While pitching on July 14, Price wore a standard Red Sox baseball cap, but with a twist. As MLB’s Cut4 pointed out, if you zoomed in on the hat he was wearing, you could see a small paw print over the bill of the cap.

And whether you were already following David Price and Astro or just saw the pitcher’s posts on social media, it is clear that he truly loved and doted on his pup. It’s clear that he will miss his very good boy, and if he can honor his pup he will.

We really do love the fact that his ball cap had a paw print on it. It is the perfect way to keep Astro with him on the field, even though the pup is no longer with him.
