If everything else fails, there’s always the old standbys of Father’s Day.

Basic ideas

How about tickets to a baseball game? Many Major League Baseball teams have Bark at the Park Nights where you can bring your dog along, and the minor leagues are filled with wonderful batdogs. Some of our favorites are the Frisco RoughRiders’ Brooks, the Las Vegas Aviators’ Finn and the Trenton Thunder’s Rookie.

Hockey season has just ended with the conclusion of the 2019 Stanley Cup Final, but it’s not too early to snag Dad some tickets for next season to his favorite NHL, minor league or junior hockey team. Or you could make a donation to some of the various service dog training organizations that hockey dogs and teams are partnered with.

Or you could contact a training facility in your area and ask if they have any introductory classes in dog sports like agilityflyball, obedience or rally.

If Dad enjoys reading, then we have a long list of authors to pick from, including Matthew DuffyMarguerite Henry, Stephen King, Garth Stein and Bill Wallace.

As always, if nothing else comes to mind, gift cards are always a good idea. National animal supply stores like Petco, PetSmart and Tractor Supply Company are a good bet, as are local or regional chains.
