What would Game of Thrones characters as dog breeds look like?
First off, none of the Dog O’Day staff watches Game of Thrones, but it’s a pretty big show right now, and season 8 premiere is airing tonight at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
It’s based on colossal novels by George RR Martin, set in a vaguely medieval fantasy world, as the Stark, Lannister and Targaryen families battle for the throne of the continent of Westeros.
We got to wondering, what would Game of Thrones characters as dog breeds look like? Since we aren’t familiar with the show or the novels, we weren’t sure. But thankfully, Rover.com has some ideas, which we found through People Magazine.
Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) would be a Bernese Mountain Dog, a massive herding breed, because they are affectionate and good at guarding things. Jon herds together the main families, so to speak, through his bloodline, and is currently protecting Westeros in the snowy Far North against the White Walkers, a race of ice zombies.
Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) would be a Golden Retriever, because he’s good at many things, considered handsome, everyone thinks well of him. And he’s very loyal. From our research, he also sounds like a major creep, even by the rather low standards of this show.
Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) would be a Boston Terrier, because she’s wide-eyed and often underestimated, with a fighting spirit inside a pocket-sized package.
Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) would be a Bulldog, because of his determination (and short stature).
Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) would be a mutt, because of her journey as a stray who knows how to survive on scraps. She’s the one with the dragons.
Finally, Cersei Lannister (Leda Headey) would be an Afghan Hound, because she is aloof, dignified, and tall. And they also both were once popular a long time ago and prefer their own company to that of other people or animals.
FanSided’s main GOT site is Winter Is Coming, and they’ve made a quick recap video to catch everyone up on the previous seven seasons.
A Dachshund named Crusoe created a great parody on YouTube titled “Game of Bones,” which wee wouldn’t mind watching, honestly.
The Dogs of Twitter are out in full force making puperations for the premiere, too.
