Geico is going to the dogs, or at least their latest commercial is. In a new commercial for the insurance company, they introduce the Smartdogs.

On April 4, Geico unveiled their newest insurance commercial. And while there is nothing shocking about a new commercial for an insurance company, there is something special about this particular one. In this advertisement for Geico, the company introduces us to Smartdogs.

Smartdogs are exactly what it sounds like, smart dogs trained to help prevent people from doing all the dangerous things we do when driving. From knocking cellphones out of a person’s hand while they try texting and driving to grabbing the phone of the hand of the person trying to take a selfie, these pups are here to save the day.

And while the commercial seems legitimate in introducing these talented pups, the reality is that there is no such thing as Smartdogs (there are, we know it). As Geico explains, the answer is not dogs (yes it is, but maybe not in this case), but instead they recommend the “Do Not Disturb” feature on our cellphones in order to prevent us from being distracted drivers.

Simply put, Geico may not be offering us a doggy solution to safety, but they are using pups to remind us that it is up to each of us to be smart drivers. Considering dogs are a man’s best friend, we think Smartdogs is a great idea. And if the insurance company had legitimately invented a way to train dogs to act as a driving safety feature, we would not be mad at it.

However, the full length commercial is not the only video that Geico posted to YouTube featuring the Smartdogs. In fact, they released an entire series of videos with the pups imparting important driving safety tips to their followers.

Among the Smartdogs videos released by Geico, there is one focused on Hands Free Devices, another on Texting at a Stoplight, and still another on the Smart Dummy. Each additional video focused on different moments that were highlighted in the full commercial. And whether it is an unsuccessful moment caught on camera or an actual lesson to be learned, each video is special because it is another chance to watch the Smartdogs in action.

We love when companies turn to dogs for sharing a message. And when it is an important one such as driving safety, we are especially happy to see dogs being utilized in such a way. After all, we tend to pay more attention when it comes to pups, and if they are cute (like the four featured in the Geico commercial), then we are even more likely to listen and learn.
