National Puppy Day is a yearly celebration of all things dogs and puppies, as we are reminded to head to rescues in order to adopt available pups. However, it is also the perfect time to check out how the dogs of Twitter celebrated.
March 23 was National Puppy Day, and while we never need a reason to show off our dogs, we still love a day specially dedicated to our four-legged friends. From puppies to older dogs, social media was a playground of videos and pictures starring our canine companions.
On Twitter the celebration was plentiful, with everyone from sports teams to celebrities sharing amazing pictures of their dogs. And thanks to pop up and adoption events, we have plenty of posts that prove that National Puppy Day was celebrated in style by pups across social media.
And while we may be focusing on the dogs of Twitter for now, that doesn’t mean there weren’t plenty of National Puppy Day posts on other platforms as well. But for now, here are some of our favorite tweets celebrating our furry friends.
Here at Dog of the Day, we are big fans of sports, which is why this tweet from the Boston Red Sox was a real winner. After all, who wouldn’t want to see a pup enjoying a World Series trophy? And of course, it helps that this pup is super cute and ready for his close up.
When an Avenger holds a puppy, we all sit up and take notice. And with Mark Ruffalo showing off this adorable pooch, we can’t help but hope the Hulk really is able to save the universe from the likes of Thanos, in order to make sure all pups have a home.
Then we had this adorable Westie who showed off a throwback picture to his puppy days. Young or old, we think all dogs are puppies, but we love seeing those puppy pictures from back in the day. And of course, we love this adorableness, so bring on more throwbacks.
On National Puppy Day, the U.S. Army was ready with the perfect picture. It is the perfect reminder that not only are there plenty of service animals working to protect our country, but they were once puppies too.
Then there was this pup who took the time to nap in his daddy’s lap. Clearly this is the reminder we all need that our laps are the perfect place to sleep. And we definitely think a doggy nap was the right way to celebrate National Puppy Day.
I feel like baby Chewy has to be here. Look at how cute this pup is, from those ears to this face, here is a pup that deserves all the treats and cuddles. Happy National Puppy Day to us.
And finally, we have to give a shout out to Keanu Reeves for his contribution to National Puppy Day. Not only was this a great way to show off his love of dogs, but it reminds us that John Wick 3 is on its way and is a definite dog lovers movie. Plus, since John Wick also celebrated the holiday with their own video tribute, it makes sense that Reeves offered a tribute of his own.
We love that so many people took the time to celebrate this annual day with pictures of their canine companions, young and old. And of course, we are always here for adorable pup pictures (and videos).
Did you celebrate National Puppy Day? How did you and your pup(s) celebrate this weekend? Tell us in the comments, or show us on social media.
