Want the perfect way to celebrate National Puppy Day in Washington D.C., especially if you love all things dogs? Then head to a ‘pup-up’ beer event.

March 23 is National Puppy Day, and if you are anything like us, you likely want to find something fun to do involving one of our favorite animals in the world. And what better way to celebrate this national day than at a ‘pup-up’ beer event hosted at the Midlands Beer Garden in Washington D.C.?

According to The Takeout, the beer garden announced that they were teaming up with the Devils Backbone Brewing Company for one of the most amazing events ever created. The ‘pup-up’ will feature dogs that can be adopted, a dog treat bar, and perhaps the greatest thing ever, puppy bartenders.

That’s right, in honor of National Puppy Day, people in Washington D.C. can be served by doggie bartenders. (I admit I’m a little jealous of this.) The puptenders (I had to) will be delivering cans of the Gold Leaf Lager produced by the Devils Backbone Brewing Company. These four-legged bartenders will be specially outfitted with vests that can hold the cans of beer, and of course they will get an assist from their “Pup-Backs,” also known as the human employees of the Devils Backbone.

To add to the fun and excitement, customers attending the ‘pup-up’ are not only allowed to bring their own dogs to the event, but are actually encouraged to do so. If you bring your canine companion with you, they can get their pictures drawn or even have photos taken with you in the photo booth that they will have set up.

Your pup can also snag a treat from the dog bakery bar, and there will also be giveaways that can outfit your canine companion in brand new leashes and collars with the brand’s name on them. There will also be branded bowls given away as well. It really is all about the dogs on National Puppy Day.

The Midlands Beer Garden features a heated patio, which is good news for anyone worried about the weather in Washington D.C. on March 23. This ‘pup-up’ event is all part of an initiative that the brewing company is running that is very dog-centric. On their website, they are running a contest called “Adventure Dogs,” which ends submissions on March 22, while the voting period kicks off on National Puppy Day.

According to Devils Backbone Brewery, five dogs will be chosen from all of the pups submitted in order to be on their cans of Gold Leaf Lager. Considering the brewery is very dog friendly, it makes sense that they would want to be a part of such an amazing event.

Honestly, we would love to see more ‘pup-up’ events like this in other parts of the country. This sounds like an amazing event that could really be a fun opportunity to have a drink with all of our friends, both the two-legged and four-legged variety.

If you live in and around the Washington D.C. area, will you be attending this event? Would you want to see doggy bartenders in action if you had the chance? Tell us what you think in the comments.
