All Dogs Go to Heaven
All Dogs Go to Heaven is an animated classic, with a voice cast that was just as impressive as the story itself (voice actors included Burt Reynolds, Dom DeLuise, and Loni Anderson). This was one of the first movies I remember watching on repeat as a child. And its combination of drama, comedy, and fantasy made this one of those dog movies that you really can’t help but love.
Set in New Orleans, the dogs are at the heart of this story, with Charlie being a very special pup who proves that all dogs really do go to Heaven. And while the movie is definitely tear inducing, there is also something very heartwarming as well. From Charlie becoming a reformed con artist, to the orphan Ann-Marie looking for a home and family, to the unique version of a dog-friendly Heaven, it feels like this movie has it all.
If you have never watched All Dogs Go to Heaven, you really don’t know what you are missing. This is perhaps one of those classic animated movies that is more than just a kids’ movie, it is an iconic story that resonates even today.
While it has been a few years since I sat down for this emotional roller coaster, every time I do, I know I am going to find myself immersed in the story and these characters. And of course, I really believe the title, so it makes it that much better.
