Martha Stewart might be the lifestyle queen, with her own business empire, but now it looks like she is getting into the cannabis business, but for dogs.
As a television personality and lifestyle guru, Martha Stewart has a brand and reputation that is larger than life. And considering how popular the entrepreneur really is, it makes sense that any number of companies would want to work with her. Which is why the news that she is going to be working with a cannabis company to create dog-friendly products really doesn’t come as much of a surprise.
According to CNBC, a cannabis company by the name of Canopy Growth reached out to Stewart to have her work with them on creating a new product line. Specifically the businesswoman will be working on an entire line of health products for pets that include “hemp-derived CBD.”
Not only is Canopy Growth looking to leverage Martha Stewart’s expertise and overall experience, but they are also looking to explore the overall effects of CBD based products on the health of both humans and animals. And the businesswoman seems excited by the opportunity.
Speaking to the media, Stewart said, “I am delighted to establish this partnership with Canopy Growth and share with them the knowledge I have gained after years of experience in the subject of living.”
As part of her partnership with the company, she will be working on both human and pet products, although for now she is starting off with the products that our dogs will fall in love with. And while you might be concerned about getting your pup high, because these products will be using cannabidiol (CBD), which does not have the same effects as actually smoking marijuana. In fact, the products that she will be working on will contain hemp, which has less THC than marijuana.
However, while CBD might not get your dog high, it is highly recommended that you not give your pet any products that have not actually been labeled for their consumption. And if you do give your pup a product made for them that contains CBD, make sure you monitor them to see how it affects them.
While the American Kennel Club has no real studies on the effectiveness of CBD on the overall health of our dogs (although there is one that is said to be in the works), there has been some evidence that it can help with issues like anxiety and even seizures. Plus, if your dog is having issues with their appetite, CBD can help with that as well.
We are in no way surprised that Canopy Growth wanted to work with Martha Stewart, and we are actually excited to see where this partnership goes. And having her along for the ride with the company certainly gives it a sense of respectability that will likely give these products a significant boost.
