In Lakeville, Minnesota two dogs seemed to have a rough day on Thursday. In fact, it was so rough that the pooches called 911 a total of 16 times.

It can be a doggone ruff life for our favorite four-legged friends. And apparently a pair of dogs in Lakeville, Minnesota had a really rough morning on February 21. According to Fox News, it was such a difficult morning that the doggy duo actually called 911 up to 16 times from their owner’s cell phone.

A hound and a Papillion became partners in crime, as they made multiple calls to 911 throughout the morning. Each time they dialed through, the dynamic duo hung up the phone (we guess they weren’t sure what to say or bark). The repeated hang ups led to police being dispatched to the scene in order to find out what exactly was going on.

Lakeville Police Officer Michelle Roberts told the news outlet that she and her partner, Officer Emily Bares, “were dispatched to a 911 hang up call at a residence in Lakeville.” And while there is nothing overly shocking about hang up calls or even dealing with them, this was definitely an entirely different situation. Instead, of a person coming to the door, they were greeted by barking dogs.

The two hyper pups called so many times that the officers had to get a hold of the owners of the home in order to find out what was going on inside. It turns out that only the dogs were in the house, leaving them as the only reasonable culprits for all 16 calls to 911. Officer Roberts, who was able to get into the house after getting in contact with the owner of the home (and the doggy duo), explained that she, “went upstairs to his office to where the cell phone was, it was on his desk, it was on emergency call only, so in theory a dog could’ve called 911, and pushed the phone with its paw.”

Based on all the evidence they were able to gather, the dogs were having such a rough morning that they decided to take matters into their own paws and call for public assistance. And while we don’t know what they may have needed, we have to give them credit for thinking outside of the box.

Even the owner of the home was surprised by what happened and seemed stunned by the idea of the dogs calling 911. But at least he has learned a valuable lesson – never leave your cell phone out for your dogs to use.
