Carrie Fisher’s French Bulldog Gary Fisher has retired to Florida
Two years after Carrie Fisher’s sudden and tragic death, her much-loved French Bulldog, Gary, is now retired and living in the land of sunshine, Florida.
After Carrie Fisher’s death in December 2016, the actress’ beloved French Bulldog Gary went to live with her assistant, Corby McCoin, according to People Magazine. However, two years after his human mom’s death, it seems that Gary has decided that he needs a change of location and a bit of retirement in his life.
In a post to Gary Fisher’s Instagram account, the pup explained that even after all this time, he still misses his mom and even though he has tried living in both New York and Los Angeles, it is time to give retirement in Florida a chance. For Gary, this is a new adventure that includes plenty of beach time, which we completely agree with because it really is the perfect place to retire to.
The post announcing the retirement shows a lovely picture of Gary looking out at water lapping at the shore, and according to the tag the adorable pooch was at Miramar Beach, which is a stunning location in the Gulf. And of course there were the additional hashtags that offered us a little more information about Gary’s retirement, specifically the fact that he misses and loves his mom. Some of the other hashtags included in his post were, “#Garysnewadventures,” “#Garyindestinflorida2019,” and of course “#Garyloveshisfans.”
For years, Gary was Carrie Fisher’s trusted service dog, always at her side. He was there for the actress to help her deal with her bipolar disorder, and anytime she had the opportunity to talk about her pup, she would rave about him, even saying that he was her heart.
Of course, Billie Lourd, Fisher’s daughter, was Gary’s original owner, but once mom fell in love with the pup it was all over. Gary became the actress’ dog and constant companion. And fans of the pup and Fisher got to see the two together often, both on social media and during appearances.
Since Carrie Fisher’s passing, Gary has remained relatively active on social media, with pictures and remembrances of his mom. And of course, with every post, it is clear that the loss of the actress has been just as hard on her beloved French Bulldog, as it has been on her daughter, and the rest of the world.
As fans of both Carrie Fisher and Gary, we hope to see more posts from the pup’s retirement. And of course, we hope that Gary is able to find exactly what he needs and wants both at the beach and in Florida.
