When it comes to spoiling our pups, we often think of toys and treats. But their dog bed is just as important and these washable beds are a smart choice.

As pet owners, we hope to make our furry family members as comfortable as possible. And while there are a lot of options out there when it comes to making this happen, dog beds are one of the best ways to make sure your pup is able to relax. Although we have previously talked about heated pet beds, we have to point out that washable dog beds are also a smart investment.

And while a heated bed sounds great for the winter, there is something to be said for being able to clean not just the cover, but also the bed itself. Over time, if you wash dog beds that are not made from the right material, they can fall apart (I have gone through a lot of dog beds this way). And of course, when you think of all the pet dander, dirt, and other things that can seep into your dogs bed, having a washable dog bed makes even more sense.

If you think about it, a washable dog bed really is a smart idea. Not only will it help get rid of smells that can linger (wet dog anyone?), but any stains from accidents or food are also easier to eliminate. While it can seem easy enough to find by just looking at the label or even Googling something like washable dog bed, the reality is that you have to make sure that the tag is not just talking about the cover.

Typically the beds that are the easiest to clean contain either polyester or cotton. Other fillings can break down in the washer. It is also important to make sure that the material itself can handle the washing machine. The worst thing that can happen is washing the bed and opening the washer to find stuffing everywhere. (I know this from personal experience, and yes we are still pulling filler out of the lint traps.)

All of this being said, there are a lot of options out there, and all it takes is heading to Amazon or Pet Smart, or any other pet store to find the perfect pet bed. Of course, we want to help you find a few fully washable dog beds, which is why we have pulled a few that have more than just their ability to be washed going for them.

Majestic Pet Bagel Dog Bed

Not only is this bed fully washable, but it is also waterproof. On top of that, this bed offers spinal support thanks to the bolsters that allow your dog to lay their head down and keep their spines straight. These beds are durable, comfortable, and ready for a bit of wear and tear. And while we recommend washing on gentle, it is important to pay attention to the tag for any additional care instructions.

HappyCare Textiles Reversible Rectangle Pet Bed

If you have a smaller dog, they may love this pet bed with a decorative paw print at the front. Not only is this a reversible bed, with one side having knitted corduroy, and the other a cool suede, but it is also fully machine washable. And we love how affordable this bed is at just $20, especially for a bed that can easily tuck into a corner.

Pet Life Reversable Pet Bed

At Pet Smart, you can snag this Pet Life Reversable Pet Bed, that is actually good for indoor or outdoor use. One side of this bed features fleece, while the other is a polyester, cotton blend. And the fact that it is also fully machine washable makes it a great option when it comes to getting rid of all the dirt and grime our pups are going to bring its way.

When you find the perfect dog bed, the last thing you want is for it to fall apart because of throwing it in the washing machine. Luckily there are washable dog beds out there to make keeping your pup comfy that much easier.
