Dog owners beware, there is a recall on Sunshine Mills dog food. It turns out the company is concerned about Vitamin D levels in bags of some of their dry foods.

When it comes to dog food we always worry about what our canine companions are eating. And according to ABC News out of Chicago, it seems that there is reason for concern if you purchase certain bags of food from the company Sunshine Mills.

The company issued a recall on the brands, Sportsman’s Pride Large Breed Puppy, Evolve Puppy, and finally Triumph Chicken and Rice Dog Food. These bags of dog food were all recalled because of concerns that they contained too much Vitamin D.

This is important because too much Vitamin D can be bad for dogs. It can lead to kidney failure in our pups, but that’s not all, as these dogs can also suffer from loss of weight, extreme drooling, an excessive need for water, an increase in urination, a loss of appetite, and even vomiting.

As the FDA reports on their website, this recall is a voluntary one and applies to seven bags of food. The bags in question range from under four pounds and up to 40 pounds. And the bags have a best buy date of Nov. 1 through Nov. 8, 2019. Each of the bags impacted by the recall are listed on the FDA’s website.

The FDA says that consumers should stop feeding their pets from these bags of dog food immediately. It is recommended that you either dispose of any bags you may have or just bring it back to the retailer where you bought it in order to get a full refund.

It’s also recommended that people watch their pets to make sure they do not exhibit any of the signs associated with ingesting too much Vitamin D. And if you do notice any of these symptoms, we recommend contacting your veterinarian right away.

It’s important to always pay attention to recalls on food, even dog food, as companies are often trying to make sure that their consumers are staying healthy and avoiding anything that might damage their overall well-being.
