Rivalry Week canine college football roundup for Week 13

Every fall Saturday – including and especially during Rivalry Week – our dogs cheer on their favorite teams on the Noisy Box from the comfort of the living room.

As always, the final week of the regular season featured wall-to-wall game action, many for local bragging rights, and for this reason Week 13 of the NCAA season is known as Rivalry Week.

For some pups, the games went well, for others, not so much, but nearly everyone got tasty Thanksgiving scraps, so it worked out well for everyone.

While the rivalries run deep, the scores were far from close most of the time. This Ohio State pup was gloating following the Buckeyes’ resounding triumph over the Michigan Wolverines.

Watson the Frenchie cheers for the Clemson Tigers, who had no trouble with instate rival South Carolina in the Palmetto Bowl.

Bentley the Bulldog was a Florida Gator today, and they won over Florida State’s Seminoles.

The action started Tuesday night in the MAC, as the Northern Illinois Huskies lost a close one to the Western Michigan Broncos 28-21. The Huskies will still play in the conference title game next week.

On Thanksgiving night, things got heated in the Egg Bowl between No. 18 Mississippi State and Ole Miss, as several players were ejected due to a massive brawl in the third quarter. The Bulldogs clobbered the Rebels 35-3 on the scoreboard, though.

On Black Friday the Apple Cup was also played for the Pac-12 North title, and the No. 16 Washington Huskies pulled out a 28-15 victory over the No. 8 Washington State Cougars in a howling snowstorm.

On Saturday, the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs won 45-21 over the Yellow Jackets from Georgia Tech, making Uga one happy mascot. Georgia plays undefeated No. 1 Alabama next weekend for the SEC championship.

Reveille the Collie’s No. 22 Texas A&M Aggies took the No. 7 LSU Tigers to SEVEN OVERTIMES before the Aggies finally emerged top dogs by a 74-72 score.

In Conference USA, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs were thumped 30-15 by the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.

In the ACC, the North Carolina State Wolfpack were victorious in overtime against the North Carolina Tar Heels, winning 34-28.

The New Mexico Lobos were ran off by Wyoming’s Cowboys 31-3 in a Mountain West matchup.

UConn Huskies fans can now focus on basketball season, which should be much happier, as the football team ended their season at 1-11 following a 57-7 loss to the Temple Owls.

Arkansas State claimed victory in their Sun Belt game against Texas State, the Red Wolves scoring 33 points to seven for the Bobcats.

Another SEC score – Smokey the Coonhound’s Tennessee Volunteers fell to the Commodores from Vanderbilt 38-13.

In the Mountain West, Fresno State crushed San Jose State 31-13 as the Bulldogs triumphed over the Spartans. Fresno State awaits the winner of No. 21 Utah State-No. 23 Boise State next weekend in the conference championship contest.

Also in the MW, Nevada’s Wolf Pack was still playing UNLV at the writing of this article. trailing the Rebels 28-26 in the third quarter.
