Former Vice-President Joe Biden adopts shelter dog
Former Vice-President Joe Biden and his wife Jill have adopted a shelter dog.
The adoption happened Saturday, according to the Delaware Humane Association. Joe and Jill Biden had previously been fostering him before deciding to officially adopt Major.
“We are so happy to welcome Major to the Biden family, and we are grateful to the Delaware Humane Association for their work in finding forever homes for Major and countless other animals.” the Bidens stated in a press release.
They already had a dog named Champ, so Major will get an older brother.
Major was brought to DHA, along with his littermates, because of something toxic in their home, and the homeowners couldn’t afford to take care of the puppies and fix the problem.
“It was such an honor for us to adopt a puppy to Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden. We make friends for life at DHA and we know that the bond between humans and their pets is incredibly strong,” DHA Executive Director Patrick Carroll stated in a press release.
“We have adopted thousands of animals into homes in Delaware, and we are happy to add the Vice President and his family to our list.”

Unusually for a politician, Biden has appeared as a guest on numerous talk shows and late-night shows, and three episodes of the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation, in addition to appearing multiple times on Meet the Press and Face the Nation.
Biden was a Senator representing Delaware from 1972 until assuming the Vice-Presidency in 2009 under Barack Obama, who had First Dog Bo.
The vice-president presides over the Senate, which means he runs debates and acts as a tiebreaking vote, if needed.
