Every fall Saturday, our dogs cheer on their favorite college football teams on the Noisy Box from the comfort of the living-room couch.

And just like every other Saturday, Dog O’Day brings you the highlights of the weekend’s dog-focused action in NCAA Division I football.

Week 12 didn’t feature many intense rivalry games, but there were a few big contests.

Chester the Poodle was all set for the big night game on ABC in the American Conference between his No. 11 UCF Knights and the No. 24 Cincinnati Bearcats. (A bearcat is a sort of weasel from southeast Asia.) UCF won easily, 37-13.

Lexi is offering her nose for good-luck boops if that will help her USC Trojans defeat their intercity rivals the UCLA Bruins in a Pac-12 South battle for Los Angeles. Unfortunately for her, it wasn’t quite enough as UCLA squeaked out a 34-27 win in a nationally-televised game on Fox.

Winston the Corgi was proudly wearing wearing his Missouri Tigers bandanna as they played Smokey the Coonhound’s Tennessee Volunteers on the road in an SEC East matchup. Missouri won easily, 50-17 on CBS in front of a national TV audience.

The week’s game action began on Wednesday in the MAC, as the Northern Illinois Huskies lost a low-scoring game 13-7 to the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks. The Huskies have still clinched the West Division, though.

On Friday night in the Mountain West, the New Mexico Lobos couldn’t stop the No. 25 Boise State Broncos, falling 45-14 and dropping to 3-8 on the year.

Mississippi State’s No. 21 Bulldogs destroyed the Razorbacks of Arkansas 52-6 in an SEC West clash.

Reveille the Collie’s Texas A&M Aggies pounded the UAB Blazers 41-20 at home in a nonconference game.

The FCS Citadel Bulldogs put up a good fight against No. 1 Alabama, though they inevitably fell 50-17 to the Crimson Tide.

Uga’s SEC East champion No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs steamrolled past the UMass Minutemen 66-27 in a nonconference game.

North Carolina State won easily over ACC foe Louisville, as the Wolfpack pounded the Cardinals 52-10.

In the American, the UConn Huskies were plundered by the East Carolina Pirates by a 55-21 score.

In Conference USA, the Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech were edged out 21-20 by the Golden Eagles of Southern Mississippi.

The Arkansas State Red Wolves defeated the Warhawks of Louisiana Monroe 31-17 in the Sun Belt.

In the Pac-12, the No. 18 Washington Huskies cruised to a 42-23 victory over the Oregon State Beavers in their mascot Dubs’ final game before retirement.

In the Mountain West, Nevada’s Wolf Pack conquered San Jose State’s Spartans 21-12, while the championship-bound Fresno State Bulldogs won 23-14 over the San Diego State Aztecs.
