Minor league baseball teams have “Bark in the Park” nights regularly. But what about dogs who prefer hockey?

The Indy Fuel have a solution for this problem: “Pucks and Paws Night,” during the Saturday, Nov. 10 game against the Cincinnati Cyclones at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.

The Fuel play in the ECHL alongside teams like the Newfoundland Growlers, and they are the Double-A affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Chicago Blackhawks.

This is at least the second time that the team has done a “Paws and Pucks Night” promotion.

For $20, fans will receive a human ticket, a dog ticket, and a Fuel dog toy. Local animal welfare organizations will receive a portion of each ticket package.

Only dogs are allowed, no other types of pets, and only one dog per fan. A waiver form must be filled out on entrance to the arena, and all the hockey hounds need to have their rabies vaccination and be on a leash at all times.

There will be dachshund races during intermission, adding to the fun.

Yesterday Roger the Boston Terrier took over the team’s Twitter for a Q-and-A session, and earlier in the week puppers showed up at practice.

The Indy Fuel are currently third in the Western Conference Central Division with 10 points and an overall record of 5-5-0. It’s still early in the season, but if the playoffs started today, they’d be in.

To buy tickets or for more information about the event, see the team’s website or email Connor Howard at choward@indyfuelhockey.com.

Indiana Farmers Coliseum is located at 1202 E. 38th Street in Indianapolis, part of the Indiana State Fairgrounds, which recently hosted the CanAm Classic flyball tournament.
