A Florida dog was reunited with his family after getting lost in storm.

Hurricane Michael tore through Florida several weeks ago, leveling houses and property and creating havoc of every sort, just weeks after the Atlantic coast was pummeled by Hurricane Florence.

For Patrick Burns and his family of Panama City, the storm not only took their house, but also made the smallest of their three dogs, Quinn, disappear.

They were on vacation when the storm hit and forced their petsitter to evacuate.

But recently a man named Cory Brockschen found Quinn on the beach while looking for his own missing dog.

The Humane Society of Bay County, along with the ASPCA and the Florida State Animal Response Coalition were conducting rescue efforts, and at their advice, Brockschen agreed to take care of Quinn temporarily until his owners could be located.

Several days later Burns came by the shelter with a picture of his dog, whom shelter workers recognized as the one Brockschen had found.

Even better, just after reuniting Quinn with his family, Brockschen found his own missing dog.

Dog O’Day learned of this story through People magazine.

Panama City is the county seat of Bay County, and is located in the Florida Panhandle in the northwest portion of the state.

A frequent spring break destination, it’s about two and a half hours east of Pensacola, five hours east of New Orleans, and five hours south of Atlanta. Tallahassee is about two hours away to the east.

Pet artist Jennifer Dempsey of Motley Mosaics used to live in Panama City.
