Skull Pup is a new clothing brand that specializes in custom hats and aiding rescue shelters.

Almost everyone has lost a pet at some point, and that hurts. A lot.

Clothing brand Skull Pup can keep the memory alive, though, with a customized hat featuring your pet’s name. As their website states, their mission “is to celebrate the dogs that we love and those we have lost.”

A division of Black Lab Apparel, which has extensive experience in customizing apparel and accessories for various organizations, so inspired by his mother Nola’s passion for animal rescue, founder Drew Siebert started Skull Pup.

“The idea to support dog rescue through this company also came from Nola’s legacy of donating to animal/wildlife welfare,” Skull Pup president Tracey Kleber said in an email interview.

Skull Pup is a self-described family-run lifestyle company for dog people; Kleber is Siebert’s sister-in-law.

The company mainly produces baseball caps in a variety of colors, though they also make beanies (toques to those in Canada).

“We chose to begin our line with hats because they are universally appealing (age, gender, etc.) and they present a fun and visible way to wear your dog-loving style,” said Kleber.

The company’s logos are Drew’s dogs Brody and Charlie. Charlie was a German Shorthaired Pointer and is no longer living, but the Catahoula mix Brody is still here, and he is a good big brother to Charlotte and Bacio.

While no design has emerged as a clear favorite just yet, according to Kleber, “the personalization is a huge hit,” making their products a good gift idea for dog lovers.

“Drew was inspired by his mom to support dog rescue through the company,” said Kleber, who has four rescue dogs of her own and supports rescue efforts across the U.S., as well as in Italy and Greece.

“I came on board as president because animal rescue is my passion, and I thought this was an awesome way to build a super fun brand with a great mission.”

A portion of their net proceeds are donated to animal rescue organizations, and they have a partnership program set up with several rescue groups across the country.

“Our goal is to do well by doing good – To develop a brand that appeals to dog lovers around the country, around the world,” Kleber stated. “And to highlight and support the tireless work the heroes of animal rescue are doing every single day.”
